Purpose and Scope:
The Power Pro Supervisor provides leadership and direction for OM&R support for all generators, automatic transfer switched (ATS), synchronization gears and light carts; refueling support services to enable refueling of all operational generators on an ongoing basis. Supervisor will be responsible for leading and providing oversight to a team of USN Power Pro Technicians in a military environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Must be able to operate and supervise the operation of medium and low voltage generators. Supervise the operations of the electric generators include start-up, transfer of load, generation, and shutdown of all associated electric power equipment. Manages installation, removal, and operation of electrical power generating and control systems, automatic or manual transfer switches and associated equipment with proper USN technical skilled workers. Provides direction and mentorship for checking equipment for serviceability; positioning equipment such as gasoline and diesel engines, generators, switchgear, air compressors, and other power generating auxiliary equipment. Checks installed equipment to ensure compliance with publications, policies, and directives. Supervises inspections, testing, and servicing of component systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, and air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment. Ensure technicians are observing and interpreting instruments such as ammeters, voltmeters, frequency meters, synchro scopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges correctly. Provide direction to adjusting engine generator systems to maintain proper voltage, current, frequency, and synchronization; synchronize multiple generators when needed. Provide hazardous waste management duties associated with generator maintenance activities. Provide effective leadership to team for providing support services to enable refueling of all prime power/backup generators, light carts and facility emergency back-up generators as required on ADAB, UAE. Assist in organizational fuel tank management services for tanks. Service includes performing organizational fuel tank custodian duties as required by AFI 23-201, Fuels Management, to include fuel sampling and draining tanks. Provide supervision for performing fuel tank maintenance for all fuel tanks supporting a facility's emergency back-up generator. Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Assures the assigned tasks are performed within the specified timeframes while meeting safety and quality standards as required by the program. Provides input to the Site Manager/Customer on any issues as it relates to power pro contract requirements.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: The supervisor shall have a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the electrical power generation field. Must have a proven background displaying ability to staff, organize, lead and manage a diverse work force of 10 people. Must have knowledge of: principles of electronics and electricity including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of low/medium voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches (automatic/manual type), fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution; interpreting instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines, generators, generating plants, distribution panels, and accessory equipment; use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; grounding practices, environmental policies; principles of management; and operation and repair of electrical power production systems. Organizational skills, computer literacy, and demonstrated expertise of research methodologies. Shall be knowledgeable and supervise all aspects of assignment of qualified personnel, scheduling workload, developing programs and procedures to satisfy customer requirements, coordinating with on-base support, preparing official correspondence, evaluating improvement suggestions, and knowledge of chain of command and protocol. Willingness to work shifts and extended hours in support of 24/7 operations. Ability to exercise discretion and make effective decisions. Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team. Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. Possess excellent communication, analytical, project management and supervisory skills. Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence to management and/or the military. Ability to adapt to frequent change and a fast-paced work environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with others in a positive, customer-focused manner. Desktop computer skills are essential with proficiency in full range of Microsoft Office applications and should be capable of preparing management level reports and presentations. Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Valid State driver's license required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Will have power production technician certification. Required to have a National Institute for Certifications in Engineering Technologies Electrical Power Testing Level II (Or equivalent United States Air Force background/technical training). Be forklift licensed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in managing personnel in a military environment or on a government contract overseas.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Requires climbing, standing, bending, and working in cramped areas; lifting and carrying tools and equipment which occasionally may weigh over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; work around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the ability to work well with others, to include the Government. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
