Job Description

The job opening is for a post-doctoral fellow, as part of the UPAR-AUA proposal. Person specification is as follows: The postdoctoral fellow will work on the study related to breast cancer entitled, "NAD kinase a potential therapeutic target in HER2 mediated oncogenesis". We are looking for a bright, motivated, dedicated individual with strong scientific, organizational, and inter-personal skills. He/she will have PhD degree related to the biological sciences discipline. Experience in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry techniques is essential. Experience with some - but not necessarily all - of the following techniques: PCR, molecular cloning, viral transduction, gene editing, immunoblotting, cell culture, colony-formation assays, ex vivo and in vivo modeling of cancer, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, and next-generation sequencing library preparation. Experience in laboratory management and establishing lab infrastructure will be a distinct advantage and highly preferred. He/she will have a great level of motivation and be able to work independently as well as in a team setting. Excellent fluency and communication in English will be critical for this position.



Minimum Qualification



PhD in any stream of life science (Microbiology, Biochemistry or Biotechnology).



Preferred Qualification



Primary responsibilities of the post include the following: o Solid understanding of human cancer biology and genomics approaches including CRISPR screening. o Prior experience in biostatistics and/or machine learning approaches. o Programming skills in at least one statistical computing software (e.g., R, Python, o The ability to meet deadlines and multitask efficiently is critical. o Strong data management skills. o Ability to maintain clear records and organized data that are conducive to bioinformatic analyses is essential. o Prior experience handling mice is essential. o Planning and managing own research activity. o Continually updating knowledge and understanding in the field. o Assisting in the development of student research skills. o Communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically. o Preparing and writing research papers. o Work with colleagues on joint projects. o Be reliable and well organized. o Able to work independently and as part of a team o Attending and contributing to relevant meetings/conferences. o Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with scientists across disciplines from UAEU and other research centers. o Strong organizational techniques, including the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment o An outstanding academic track record o Supervising students.



Expected Skills



DNA, RNA and protein isolation. DNA PCR, qRT-PCR, western blotting. Immunohistochemisty, Immunofluorescence. Bacterial work, transformation etc. Should have the knowledge of using SPSS, Image J and graph Prism software.
