Position Overview

KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on optical sensing for medical and environmental applications. The position is based in the physics department, but close collaborations with researchers in the other departments and research centers are strongly encouraged due to the project\'s interdisciplinary approach. The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following research areas: Laser-based sensors, Terahertz sensing, and Terahertz spectroscopy and imaging.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

• Design and conduct experiments under the guidance of the PI
• Propose and contribute to developing new and advanced optical-based monitoring and sensing techniques
• Analyze results and Lead and contribute to the writing of peer-reviewed publications and promote the results at international conferences
• Look after the experimental facility
• Adhere to the University\'s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the PI

Candidate Profile

Essential Criteria

• Ph.D. from a reputable university in Physics or related discipline.
• Solid background in optics and laser spectroscopy
• Experience in experimental research, ability to conduct independent scientific work
• Hands-on experience with laser systems and optical setups
• Experience with the design of optical systems and setups (e.g., using Zemax software) is plus
• Experience with programming languages, e.g., MATLAB and LabVIEW
• Experience writing scientific or review papers;
• Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
• Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines
• Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers

Desired Criteria

• Ph.D. gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked University
• At least one year of relevant experience as a post-doctoral researcher in academia or industry.
• High-impact first-author publications in the top Q1 journals in the relevant field
