KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on the design and synthesis of novel framework materials for low-temperature nitrogen reduction to ammonia. The rationally designed polymers will be well-characterized and tested for electrocatalysis. There are two key responsibilities for the position: 1) Design and synthesis of framework materials and 2) development of new approaches for polymer integration/fabrication to achieve highly efficient electrocatalytic conversion to ammonia. The polymers/frameworks will be synthesized in-house and optimized before being used in catalysis.Position Requirements
Function autonomously, ethically, and responsibly.
Collaborate and work in a collegial manner with the research team members.
Develop learning initiatives, and engage in appropriate technical training and professional development opportunities as required by the project leader and the University.
Support the research group in the design and advancement of the research program.
Carry out a specified research program under the direction of the project supervisor.
Engage in the wider activities of the research group.
Take responsibility for documenting the minutes of technical group meetings, and reporting the technical progress to the project supervisor and research group, periodically and in a timely manner.
Engage in the dissemination of results in high-quality peer-reviewed publications as well as oral forms, independently, as directed by the project leader, and with the support of the research group.
Aid supervision, mentorship, and training to graduate students working within the research group, as appropriate, and as directed by the project supervisor.
Adhere to the University\'s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
QUALIFICATIONSCandidate ProfileEssential Criteria
PhD from a reputable university in Chemistry or Material Science.
Experience writing scientific or review papers;
A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture
Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines.
Ability to train and mentor students and support fellow researchers
Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills
Desired Criteria
PhD gained from a top 200 QS or THE ranked University
High-impact first-author publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
