The Port Operation Executive - Ship Operations is responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of ship operations, ensuring smooth port calls, cargo handling, and compliance with Port Regulations. This role involves liaising with port authorities, clients, Ship and internal teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective vessel turnaround.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Oversee daily port operations, including vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and storage, to ensure efficient and timely services. ?
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all port activities comply with local and international maritime regulations and safety standards, maintaining a secure working environment. ?
Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with port authorities, shipping companies, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations and promptly address any issues. ?
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement strategies to optimize port operations, enhance efficiency, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor port staff, fostering a collaborative work environment and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. ?
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree and 1+ year experience in port operations
Experience:
Substantial experience in port or maritime operations, with a proven track record
Regulatory Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of local maritime laws and regulations.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective coordination with diverse stakeholders. ?
Problem-Solving:
Demonstrated ability to identify issues proactively and implement effective solutions. ?
Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with port management software and other relevant technological tools. ?
Additional Considerations:
Language Skills:
Proficiency in English is typically required; knowledge of Arabic can be beneficial.?
Physical Requirements:
Ability to navigate port environments, including boarding vessels and inspecting facilities.
Technical & Soft Skills
Strong understanding of shipping operations, port services, and cargo handling procedures.
Familiarity with IMO regulations, port tariffs, and vessel documentation requirements.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and maritime software.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
Ability to handle multiple vessel operations simultaneously.
UAE driving license preferred.
