Overview:
The primary purpose of this position is the overall management of cargo and vessel operation for (Arabian Gulf or Africa) through understanding of regional characteristics, safety, most profits with efficient port and terminal operations in line with WW Cargo Handling Instructions. To facilitate the most competitive contracts with ports & terminal operators as well as service providers in Middle East / Africa. This role also involves a central stowage planning function for import and export voyages within Middle East / Africa.

Overall management of cargo and vessel operations for (Arabian Gulf):
+ Coordination with local agencies, terminal operators, stevedore to ensure safe and efficient cargo and vessel operation.
+ Quickly identify and resolve cargo operational problems according to WW Cargo Handling Instructions.
+ Daily monitoring of all vessel's movement in/bound for Arabian Gulf or Africa with Master, agency and local authority to ensure safe and efficient port and cargo operations.
Support the evaluation and pricing of ad-hoc and inducement port calls in Arabian Gulf or Africa.
Support Trades and Sales regarding cargo acceptance and technical requirements during quotation process. Handle operational review in GQS for cargo within and out from Arabian Gulf:
+ Control the equipment/roll trailer activities and movements in Arabian Gulf or Africa.
+ Check and analyze the possibility of calling at new ports in Arabian Gulf or Africa.
+ Negotiate on a regular basis the port tariffs and stevedoring rates to drive out the cost and refrain rate & tariff increase.
+ Coordinate the disbursement account management.
+ Coordinate with concerned parties to minimize the overtime charges whenever possible.
+ Reduce unnecessary shifting by all means possible.
+ Collaborate local contracts with Procurement & Cost Management team.
+ Manage cargo quality and damage ratio to ensure a high level of cargo quality.
+ Handle cargo and vessel accidents/damages in the port.
+ Perform the Cargo Quality Audit on a regular basis.
+ Train stevedore and suppliers to meet our cargo safety & quality standard.
+ Update the WW Ocean & EUKOR system with relevant cargo operation information.
Creation/distribution and update of Final or Pre-Stowage Plans for export /coastal voyages within Middle East/Africa prior cargo operation according to global group instruction.
Manage final stowage plans being delivered to vessel and distributed /uploaded from port prior sailing as per global group instruction.
Calculate available space for export and coastal cargo from Middle East/Africa and assess opportunities to increase on a case-by-case basis through shifting etc.
Liaison with subsequent load regions as to allocation of required space.
Consolidate and provide feedback on areas for improvement in stowage to the Stockholm/Seoul stowage planning team.
Support Sales Support and Sales regarding cargo acceptance and technical requirements during quotation process. Handle operational review in GQS for cargo within and out from Middle East/Africa.
Assessment of COD requests.
Ensure updates of equipment inventory are made and work with Break Bulk/ equipment team to reposition equipment as required.
Act as an Ambassador for the business by acting as mentor/guide and setting a good example to others.
Assist in other areas of the wider business as reasonably required and within skills level.

Proficiency in stowage planning using SPS with the ability to effectively execute stowage plan.
Shipping Documentation - international shipping & local authority regulations.
Proficiency in learning and using IT systems.
Knowledge of expectations and demands in both a cargo operation/quality and cost management.
Education/Qualifications/Experience:At least 5 years' experience in the Ocean Transportation sector.
Working experience in Cargo Operations or Quality Service.
RORO Stowage planner using SPS.
