Job Overview:
The Plumbing Foreman will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of plumbing and drainage works on construction sites, ensuring that all plumbing systems are installed according to project specifications, safety standards, and building codes. The role requires hands-on expertise in the execution, installation, and maintenance of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and waste systems, as per the approved drawings and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervision & Leadership:
• Lead and supervise a team of plumbers and assistants in the installation and maintenance of plumbing systems (water, sewage, drainage, etc.) on-site.
• Ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Assign tasks to plumbing team members and ensure work is carried out efficiently.
• Conduct daily site inspections to monitor the quality of work and ensure compliance with the project specifications.
• Execution of Plumbing Works:
• Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all plumbing and drainage systems, including piping, fixtures, water heaters, pumps, and sewer systems.
• Ensure that plumbing installations are done according to the approved drawings, engineering specifications, and relevant codes of practice.
• Coordinate with other construction disciplines (electrical, civil, HVAC) to ensure proper integration of systems and avoid conflicts in design or installation.
• Technical Guidance:
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to plumbing team members during installation and troubleshooting.
• Interpret and explain construction drawings, specifications, and plumbing codes to the team.
• Assist in resolving any issues related to plumbing design, material selection, or installation methods.
• Quality Control & Compliance:
• Ensure all plumbing installations meet the required quality standards, ensuring compliance with local plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Perform regular quality checks and inspections of the plumbing work, addressing any defects or discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and submit progress reports on the status of plumbing work to the site manager or project manager.
• Health & Safety Management:
• Promote a culture of safety on the job site, ensuring that all plumbing work adheres to the company's health and safety policies.
• Ensure all plumbing activities are carried out in accordance with safety protocols, and provide proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to team members.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks with the plumbing team.
• Materials Management:
• Oversee the proper storage, handling, and usage of plumbing materials and equipment.
• Ensure that required materials and tools are available for the team and that inventory is properly maintained.
• Work with procurement to ensure timely delivery of plumbing materials to the site.
• Coordination & Reporting:
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of plumbing works.
• Assist in reviewing and understanding plumbing plans and drawings, providing feedback to the design team when necessary.
• Report on daily progress, challenges, and any delays to the project manager or site supervisor.
Key Requirements:
• Experience : Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in plumbing and drainage works, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
• Education : High School Diploma or equivalent; formal training in plumbing or related fields (e.g., apprenticeship, vocational courses) preferred.
• Technical Skills :
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and methods (e.g., PVC, copper, cast iron, etc.).
• Experience with construction drawings, plumbing codes, and standards.
• Proficient in plumbing installation, repair, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Leadership Skills : Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and maintain discipline on-site.
• Communication : Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
