The PLC Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintaining
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
systems to ensure the efficient and safe operation of electrical equipment and machinery. This role also involves programming, preventive maintenance, and system optimization to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Diagnose and Troubleshoot PLC Systems
Identify faults, perform diagnostics, and resolve issues related to PLC systems in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Analyze program logic, electrical wiring, and related components to troubleshoot faults effectively.
2. Maintenance of PLC Systems
Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on PLC systems to ensure optimal performance.
Ensure all electrical components, sensors, and controls function correctly and safely.
3. System Programming & Configuration
Assist in programming, configuring, and modifying PLC software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other PLC platforms).
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
4. Electrical Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and wiring, including motor control circuits, relays, sensors, switches, and control panels in relation to PLC control systems.
Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
5. Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with engineers, operators, and other technicians to improve electrical and control systems.
Provide feedback on PLC system performance and suggest enhancements for increased efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, troubleshooting steps, and programming changes.
6. Safety & Compliance
Follow all relevant safety standards and protocols when working on electrical systems.
Adhere to company policies and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum
3+ years
of experience in PLC troubleshooting, maintenance, and programming.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of
PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.)
Experience with
motor controls, sensors, relays, and industrial automation systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
Familiarity with
HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems
is a plus.

Work Environment:
Exposure to high-voltage electrical systems and industrial automation equipment.
