Job Description

Position Title : Planning Engineer

Job Summary :

The Planning Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all planning activities and ensuring project timelines are met and resources are effectively managed. The role also requires expertise in handling Extension of Time (EOT) claims and providing detailed project delay analysis.

Key Responsibilities :

• Project Planning & Scheduling :
• Develop, update, and monitor detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and other project planning software.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely execution of MEP activities within set timelines.
• Analyze and forecast project timelines, resource allocation, and budget requirements.
• MEP Coordination :
• Collaborate with MEP project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks are planned and executed efficiently.
• Ensure that MEP designs, installations, and commissioning activities align with the project schedule and milestones.
• EOT Claims Management :
• Prepare and submit Extension of Time (EOT) claims, providing substantiated delay analysis for MEP projects.
• Work closely with legal and contractual teams to ensure claims are backed by accurate documentation and are presented in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Analyze project delays, risks, and disruptions and propose mitigation plans.
• Progress Monitoring & Reporting :
• Track project progress, including physical progress vs. the schedule, and prepare regular status reports for stakeholders.
• Lead regular project review meetings with project teams, contractors, and clients to discuss progress and address potential delays.
• Risk & Change Management :
• Identify potential risks and delays that may impact project completion and implement corrective actions.
• Manage change orders and incorporate them into the master project schedule while assessing their impact on the overall timeline and budget.

Key Competencies :

• Strong MEP Knowledge : Expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems and their integration into construction projects.
• Primavera P6 Proficiency : Advanced skills in project scheduling and tracking.
• EOT Claims Experience : Strong knowledge of delay analysis and Extension of Time claims in construction projects.
• Problem-Solving : Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve project scheduling and delay-related issues.
• Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication, especially when dealing with stakeholders, contractors, and legal teams.
• Attention to Detail : Meticulous in handling schedules, claims, and reports to ensure accuracy.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil preferred).
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in project planning with a strong background in MEP projects.
• Extensive experience in managing EOT claims and delay analysis.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and related planning software.
• Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and construction law related to claims management is an advantage.

Preferred Skills :

• PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification.
• Experience working in large-scale construction projects in the MEP domain.
