L Job Title: Planning Engineer (Civil)
Job Summary:
As a Planning Engineer with a Civil engineering background, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and monitoring of construction projects. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop detailed schedules and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Your role will involve using specialized software for scheduling and reporting, analyzing project progress, and recommending adjustments to ensure project milestones are met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop project schedules, timelines, and milestones using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Coordinate with project teams to understand scope, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Prepare detailed work plans and monitor progress against established schedules.
2. Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Monitor resource utilization and identify potential bottlenecks or conflicts.
3. Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track project progress and compare actual versus planned performance.
- Generate regular progress reports for stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, issues, and mitigation plans.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress and ensure adherence to schedules.
4. Risk Management:
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Anticipate potential delays or obstacles and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and priorities.
- Facilitate meetings to discuss project status, issues, and action plans.
- Communicate effectively to resolve conflicts and maintain positive working relationships.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer in civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Construction Management or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with cost estimation and budget management.
Working Conditions:
- Typically works in an office environment but may also visit construction sites as needed.
- May require occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Travel to project sites or client meetings may be required.
