Planning engineers determine and develop the most suitable and economically viable construction and engineering methods for projects. They are involved throughout the development stages, and are present on site during the build to oversee procedures. It is the responsibility of the planning engineer to estimate a timescale for a project and to ensure that the outlined deadlines are met. They work closely with site managers and other engineers to ensure a project runs on schedule and that material supplies are sufficient
Main Responsibilities are but not limited to:
• Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines that align with architectural designs and construction requirements. Ensure that all project phases are clearly defined and that tasks are properly sequenced.
• Resource Allocation: Determine the necessary resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, required to execute the project as per the architectural design. Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
• Budget Management: Collaborate with the project management team to create and manage budgets. Monitor project costs and implement cost control measures to prevent budget overruns.
• Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges related to architectural requirements and construction processes. Develop mitigation plans to address these issues and ensure project success.
• Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor project progress against the architectural specifications and project schedule. Report any deviations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that construction activities conform to the architectural design and maintain quality standards. Collaborate with quality control and assurance teams to address any discrepancies.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with architects, contractors, and subcontractors to clarify architectural requirements and resolve any design-related issues.
• Document Management: Maintain accurate project documentation, including architectural drawings, plans, and specifications. Ensure that all project stakeholders have access to the latest design information.
• Change Management: Evaluate and manage any changes or revisions to the architectural design. Ensure that changes are properly documented and do not adversely impact project timelines or budgets.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, architects, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure that the architectural aspects of the project are aligned with the overall project goals.
• Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities adhere to local building codes, regulations, and safety standards while also meeting architectural requirements.
• Reporting: Provide regular project status reports to management and other stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and proposed solutions.
Qualification & Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field.
• Previous 5+ experience in architectural design & project planning within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
