Overview :
We are seeking a highly motivated Planning Engineer with 2-3 years of experience to join our civil engineering team. The Planning Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing the timeline of civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in project planning and the use of project management software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
Key Responsibilities :
• Project Scheduling & Planning :
• Develop, monitor, and update project schedules and timelines using Primavera P6 , Microsoft Project , or other relevant project management tools.
• Prepare detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and project schedules that include task dependencies, durations, and milestones.
• Ensure that all activities in the project plan are aligned with the construction phases and deadlines.
• Progress Monitoring & Reporting :
• Track and analyze the progress of construction activities , comparing actual performance with planned performance.
• Prepare regular progress reports for the management team, highlighting any delays or potential risks.
• Perform earned value analysis (EVA) to monitor project performance, including cost and schedule variances.
• Resource Planning & Management :
• Assist in resource allocation (manpower, materials, equipment) and ensure that resources are available as per the project schedule.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure the timely mobilization of resources and materials on-site.
• Risk Management & Mitigation :
• Identify potential scheduling risks and suggest corrective actions to avoid delays.
• Monitor any issues or disruptions that could affect the project timeline (e.g., labor shortages, weather, supply chain issues) and recommend solutions.
• Coordination with Stakeholders :
• Work closely with the project manager , site engineers , and other key stakeholders to align project schedules with overall goals and deadlines.
• Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and suppliers regarding progress, delays, and any changes to the project plan.
• Document Control & Reporting :
• Maintain accurate records of project schedules, reports, and correspondence related to planning activities.
• Ensure that all project-related documentation is updated and easily accessible for review.
• Cost Control and Budget Management :
• Assist in monitoring the project budget, identifying any discrepancies between the budget and actual spending, and reporting these issues to the senior management team.
• Contribute to the preparation of cost control reports and support the planning team in ensuring the project stays within budget.
• Change Management :
• Assist in evaluating the impact of any changes to the project scope or design on the schedule and work with the team to adjust timelines accordingly.
• Provide input on change orders and ensure that all changes are reflected in the updated project schedule.
Key Skills and Qualifications :
• Education :
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Management , or a related field.
• A Master's degree or further studies in project management is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Experience :
• 2-3 years of experience as a Planning Engineer or in a similar role in civil engineering or construction projects.
• Experience with planning and scheduling large-scale civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, or utilities.
• Technical Skills :
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 , Microsoft Project , or equivalent project management software.
• Knowledge of project management tools and techniques (critical path method, resource leveling, Gantt charts, etc.).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit (basic knowledge for coordination purposes) is desirable but not mandatory.
• Understanding of Construction Processes :
• A strong understanding of construction processes , methods, and materials used in civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of contractor coordination , construction sequencing, and workflow optimization.
• Analytical Skills :
• Strong ability to analyze project data and identify potential risks or delays.
• Experience in conducting schedule risk analysis and suggesting mitigation strategies.
• Communication Skills :
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly report on the status of the project to stakeholders.
• Ability to prepare detailed and accurate reports, presentations, and documentation.
• Attention to Detail :
• High attention to detail when reviewing project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
• Problem Solving :
• Ability to proactively identify potential project delays or issues and offer solutions to keep the project on track.
• Resourceful in adjusting schedules to address unforeseen delays or challenges.
