Job Summary:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure all activities are completed on time and within budget and will be reporting to the Planning Manager.
This role requires expertise in Primavera P6, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to optimize timelines and resource allocation.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
The below would be the primary functions of the Planning Engineer. However, this could vary based on the project/ organization requirement as per the directions of the Planning Manager.
Schedule Development and Maintenance
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring all phases of work are planned out with accuracy.
• Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and define activities, activity relationships, and durations.
Progress Monitoring and Reporting
• Regularly update project schedules based on actual progress, analyzing any deviations from the baseline schedule.
• Generate and distribute detailed progress reports, including S-curves, KPIs, Earned Value Analysis, and variance analysis to stakeholders.
• Identify critical path activities and assess the impact of schedule changes.
Resource Allocation and Optimization
• Allocate resources effectively across project schedules, accounting for manpower, equipment, and materials.
• Perform resource levelling and prepare manpower histograms and resource usage profiles.
Risk and Delay Management
• Conduct risk analyses on schedules and develop mitigation plans for potential delays.
• Implement recovery schedules in case of delays, using schedule compression techniques such as crashing and fast-tracking, as necessary.
Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand project objectives and incorporate them into the schedule.
• Facilitate project meetings, such as look-ahead meetings, to communicate scheduling milestones, deadlines, and potential issues.
Documentation and Compliance
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for project schedules, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
• Support project documentation efforts to ensure they are complete, accurate, and up-to-date.
Key Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling in the oil & gas sector, preferably with ADNOC group.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in Primavera P6
• Strong command of project management principles, including Earned Value Management (EVM), Critical Path Method (CPM), and resource management.
• Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Certifications: PMP, RMP, and PMI-SP certification is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
• Location: Primarily HO based in Abu Dhabi with occasional on-site visits. This may vary based on the Client's requirements.
