PURPOSE OF THE JOB: As a pipeline designer, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and creating detailed specifications for pipelines used in various industries, including oil and gas, water distribution, sewage systems, and chemical processing plants. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that pipeline systems are designed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pipeline Design: Designing pipelines and related infrastructure, including pipe routing, sizing, material selection, and layout.
Drafting and Modeling: Creating detailed drawings, schematics, and 3D models using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as PDS.
Technical Analysis: Performing hydraulic and structural analysis to determine pipe sizing, pressure requirements, and stress analysis to ensure the integrity and safety of the pipeline system.
Material Selection: Selecting appropriate materials for pipeline construction based on factors such as fluid properties, environmental conditions, and project requirements.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that pipeline designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including ASME, API, ASTM, and local building codes.
Collaboration: Working closely with engineers, project managers, surveyors, and other stakeholders to coordinate design activities, address technical challenges, and incorporate feedback into the design process.
Cost Estimation: Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and project proposals by providing input on material quantities, labor requirements, and other design-related factors.
Quality Assurance: Reviewing and validating design documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements and standards.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate records, documentation, and project files throughout the design process, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and design reports.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
Must have proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as PDS, and MicroStation as well as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and similar tools.
7+ years in oil and gas, with experience on upstream projects.
