Job Description

International Community Schools Abu Dhabi is in search of a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic Physics Teacher who will inspire students to explore the fascinating world of physics. This role demands a professional who is committed to delivering a rigorous and comprehensive physics curriculum, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of scientific principles among students from Grades 9 to 12 (or the equivalent in your system). The ideal candidate will be adept at making complex concepts accessible and engaging, preparing students not only for examinations but also for real-world applications of physics.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive physics curriculum that aligns with international standards and the school's academic goals.

Design lesson plans that are engaging, student-centered, and differentiated to accommodate a wide range of learning styles and abilities.

Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, demonstrations, experiments, and technology-based resources, to deliver content effectively.

Create and administer formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, tests, lab reports, and projects, to evaluate student understanding and mastery of physics concepts.

Provide timely, constructive feedback to students, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.

Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including standardized tests, by developing effective review strategies and practice sessions.

Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and academic excellence.

Implement classroom management strategies that support student engagement and minimize disruptions, ensuring a productive learning atmosphere.

Offer additional academic support to students who require extra help, including after-school tutoring sessions, one-on-one consultations, and guidance on science projects.

Monitor student progress closely, identifying those who may be at risk of underachievement and developing intervention strategies to support their success.

Serve as a mentor to students, providing academic and career advice, particularly for those interested in pursuing further studies in physics or related fields.

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in physics education, instructional technologies, and best practices.

Collaborate with colleagues within the science department and across other departments to develop interdisciplinary lessons and projects that enhance the overall educational experience.

Participate in departmental meetings, school-wide initiatives, and professional learning communities to contribute to the continuous improvement of the school's academic programs.

Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming assessments, and any concerns that may arise.

Participate in parent-teacher conferences, open houses, and other school events to build strong relationships with families and the broader community.

Promote the school's science program by organizing and participating in extracurricular activities such as science fairs, competitions, and STEM clubs.

Actively contribute to the school's extracurricular programs by leading or supporting science-related clubs, activities, and events that encourage students to explore physics beyond the classroom.

Encourage students to participate in local, regional, and international science competitions, providing guidance and support throughout the preparation process.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and other essential data using the school's information management system.

Prepare and submit reports, including student progress reports and curriculum updates, as required by the school administration.

Ensure that all laboratory equipment and resources are used safely and maintained in good working order, adhering to the school's health and safety

Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Physics, Physics Education, or a closely related field. A Master's degree in Physics or Education is highly desirable.

Certification:

Valid teaching certification or license, with a specialization in physics or secondary science education.

Additional qualifications in educational technology or special education would be an asset.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the secondary or high school level, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.

Proven track record of success in preparing students for standardized exams and achieving high pass rates.
