Job Description

A pest control technician is responsible for identifying, managing, and eliminating pests from homes, businesses, and other properties. Their specific duties and responsibilities typically include:

Inspection

: Conduct thorough inspections of properties to identify signs of pest infestation (termites, rodents, insects, etc.). Determine the type of pests present, the extent of the infestation, and any conditions that may attract pests (e.g., moisture, food sources, etc.).

Pest Identification

: Identify various types of pests and their behaviors to determine the most effective treatment methods. Keep up to date with pest control products and methods.

Treatment

: Apply pesticides, baits, traps, or other pest control methods to remove or prevent infestations. Ensure that all treatments are done safely, adhering to environmental regulations and safety standards.

Customer Education

: Educate clients about pest prevention strategies, such as sealing cracks, removing food sources, or maintaining a clean environment to avoid future infestations. Explain the services provided and advise on follow-up treatments if necessary.

Record Keeping

: Maintain detailed records of pest control treatments, including chemicals used, areas treated, and the results of the service. Document customer information, job details, and any follow-up actions required.

Safety Compliance

: Follow safety protocols when handling pesticides or chemicals to avoid exposure to harmful substances. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding pest control and pesticide application.

Equipment Maintenance

: Ensure all equipment used, such as sprayers, traps, and vacuums, is in good working condition. Perform regular maintenance and repairs on pest control equipment as needed.

Customer Service

: Provide excellent customer service by being professional, courteous, and responsive to clients' concerns or questions. Handle complaints and resolve issues related to pest control services.

Environmental Responsibility

: Apply eco-friendly pest control methods when possible to minimize the environmental impact.
