:Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is currently seeking a Performing Arts Technician - Set Designer. We are looking for first-class educators to join our vibrant team and work with us in our pursuit of excellence.Responsibilities:Main Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for set design within Cranleigh Abu Dhabi\'s Performing Arts department
  • Provide appropriate, proactive and creative support for the School\'s performances and
activities such as practical exams * Work with the school community teams to produce visually engaging environments around theschool * To be able to design lighting and work alongside a technician to bring visions to life forPerforming Arts shows and events. It is also desirable to be able to control the lighting desk.Specific ResponsibilitiesPerforming Arts:
  • Design and create sets & lighting for school productions and concerts
  • Oversee the Set and Costume stores within the school and run the \'borrowing\' system
  • Liaise with the Director of Performing Arts or leader of events to achieve the creative brief of productions/concerts
  • Liaise with Marketing/Social Media depts. to ensure a consistent design for Performing Arts and whole school events
  • Liaise with Theatre Technicians to achieve creative vision in a timely manner
  • Carry out administration tasks in that relate to being a set designer e.g. ordering scenery, props and supplies
  • Liaise with the Director of Performing Arts or leader of events to oversee the use of Performing Arts facilities
  • Lead students and staff to manage and support with props and set e.g. lead a props-making CCA, train students/staff how to handle and move sets during shows.
Wider school
  • To liaise with staff and create visual effects to support WOW Days, Sports Days, National/International Days etc.
  • Provide creative support to all users of the school\'s theatre and performance spaces, where requested
  • Offer insight on what could possibly be needed to keep the school visually up-to-date
  • Help departments with displays and classroom/corridor decoration to improve the learning environment for the students
Housekeeping
  • Ensure all equipment is stored safely and is accessible to others when absent
  • Ensure spaces are kept tidy and organised
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and materials held and used
  • Liaise with IT staff over software requirements and system support
Health & Safety
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met for the use of the performance spaces (including set), ensuring a risk assessment is done for all theatre/event space activities
  • Attend training as required and maintain awareness of health and safety regulations specific to the spaces and equipment used
  • Regularly update and advise all users (including students) of the Performing Arts spaces on the safe use of the area and equipment
Qualifications:Minimum Education
  • An Art or Design based degree
  • A general education to GCSE or equivalent
Minimum Experience
  • Experience in set design/building
  • Experience of working within a school i.e. Art workshops Experience in creating designs to enhance both performances and learning environments
