Aldar Academies are seeking a Performace Arts Technician (UAEN) for Bateen World Academy commencing immediately.
Bateen World Academy is located in the center of the city of Abu Dhabi and is a hugely popular school based in a vibrant community. The school is a high achieving British and IB World School (Years 7 to 13) easily exceeding IB Diploma global averages year on year and achieving outstanding I/GCSE results. The school recently expanded into primary years, starting with FS2 to Year 3, and developed this year to include a full primary provision, FS2 to Year 6. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an exciting addition and provides the community with an all through school experience from FS1 to Year 13 offering PYP, UK and IB Diploma options.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in the the relevant field

Main Duties
• To ensure maintenance of the range of technical equipment such as lighting, sound reinforcement, computer hardware and software as well as other performing arts related technologies and musical instruments
• To undertake and/or coordinate the rigging and de-rigging of technical equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
• Acquiring and supervision of set-building, light and sound equipment and the operation of equipment for School promoted shows
• Conduct and record regular inspections of technical installations and liaise with the Premises team on any maintenance requirements ensuring that any faults/technical issues are reported to the Facilities Manager
• Ensuring PAT testing of faculty equipment is carried out in accordance with guidelines
• Ensuring all relevant risk assessments and policies relating to the faculty's technical resources are up-to-date and adhered to
• To liaise with and assist visiting professional performance companies
• To provide technical support for assemblies, school events, shows/performances when needed, including providing basic technical training to staff
• To ensure, with the department staff, that all department areas are safe and that all equipment is correctly stored at the end of the day and at the end of productions/enrichment activities
Specific Duties
• To respond to appropriate requests from staff and students in line with the job role, in order to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Performing Arts Department. This will include:
• To support students in the use of technical equipment across Drama and Music
• To support the maintenance of the Drama and Music spaces to provide a pleasant environment in which to work
• To advise teaching staff about future requirements needed to keep up to date with technical developments
• Ensuring all faculty rooms including practice rooms are fit for purpose
• Cataloguing and editing of filmed/recorded work
• Providing technical support in varying areas for examined and non-examined practical performances and lessons
• Filming of practical work in lessons and for examination work where required. To oversee, and where possible maintain, all technical equipment for Drama and Music (i.e. lanterns, lighting board, camcorder, computers, audio equipment, amplifiers, guitars, PA systems etc).
• Overseeing the tuning of pianos, repair and replacement of faculty musical instruments.
• Direct technical support to Performing Arts Dept. for core IT equipment and AV technology
• Take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments and changes
• Undertake any necessary professional development as identified
