Position Title: Sous Chef
Reports To: Executive Chef/General Manager
Position Summary :
A Pastry Chef is a skilled culinary professional who specializes in creating a wide variety of delicious desserts, pastries, and sweet goods. They have expertise in baking techniques, recipe development, and pastry decoration, using their creativity to craft enticing treats.
Responsibilities:
• Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes
• Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
• Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
• Work in a team environment with a high degree of professionalism while handling multiple priorities to produce efficient service;
• Plate items as requested during meals and suggest pairing desserts with wines, cocktails, and other dessert beverages;
• Create desserts based on the restaurant's preference;
• Responsible for/in charge of the pastry program in its entirety. "Pastry" includes all baked items, dessert, breakfast, and brunch;
• Supervises to maintain superior cleanliness and organization of kitchen and equipment;
• Ensure all safe food-handling procedures are being demonstrated at all times;
• Responsible for creating detailed production lists and assigning tasks to pastry cooks each day;
• Ensures all food is prepared and served in a timely, organized, and efficient way;
• Responsible for establishing a labor budget and sticking to it weekly;
• Responsible for streamlining and scaling all recipes, new and old;
• Performing stages at restaurants chosen by herself and Owner.
• Other duties as assigned;
Requirements and skills
• Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role
• Great attention to detail and creativity
• Organizing and leadership skills
• Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
• In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
• Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
• Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Contract
Contract length: 24 months
Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED9,000.00 per month
