Job Summary: Al Khanji Enterprise is seeking a skilled and experienced Pastry Chef with a strong background in baking and pastry arts, particularly in traditional Arabic sweets and pastries. The ideal candidate must have more than 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with expertise in crafting high-quality, authentic Arabic desserts along with other international baked goods. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and presentation of all pastries and desserts served by the establishment.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare, bake, and present a variety of traditional Arabic pastries, including Kunafa, Baklava, Maamoul, Basbousa, Luqaimat, and more. Develop and execute recipes for cakes, bread, cookies, and other desserts, ensuring consistency and quality. Innovate and experiment with new dessert ideas while maintaining authenticity in flavours. Monitor ingredient inventory, ensuring all necessary supplies are available, fresh, and properly stored. Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times. Oversee the production process to ensure efficient workflow and minimize waste. Adjust recipes and baking techniques based on customer preferences and seasonal trends. Decorate and garnish desserts in an aesthetically appealing manner. Ensure proper handling and maintenance of bakery equipment and tools. Train and mentor junior pastry chefs and kitchen assistants in baking and presentation techniques. Maintain detailed records of daily production, ingredient usage, and quality control. Work closely with the kitchen and service staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders. Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and new dessert innovations, particularly in Arabic and Middle Eastern pastry arts.
Requirements: Minimum 2+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef, specializing in Arabic sweets and pastries. Strong knowledge of traditional and modern Arabic dessert-making techniques. Ability to prepare a wide range of baked goods, including cakes, bread, and international desserts. Expertise in using baking equipment, ovens, and pastry tools. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and an eye for presentation. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Experience in managing stock levels, ingredients, and inventory control. Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs. Good teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff.
