JESS is seeking a part time voice/singing teacher to complement its music curriculum.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The provision of vocal/singing lessons for individual and/or small groups of students. Responsibilities include:
• Teaching one-to-one singing to students from Year 6 to Year 13
• To identify, support and extend all learners of all abilities.
• To plan and prepare lessons in relation to individual students' needs and abilities
• To acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources
• To teach music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to pupils
• To enter and prepare students for examinations
• To liaise with academic staff and parents
• To assess students' abilities, providing feedback and writing reports
• To contribute positively to all aspects of school life including performance which is central to our extensive extra-curricular programme
• To encourage pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self-control and independence, persevere, and listen attentively
• To be an integral part of our performances (concerts, recitals and parent workshops)
Person Specification
Qualifications:
Related Degree
Experience:
3 years' experience in teaching voice/singing
Personal Competencies and Qualities:
• A passionate and inspirational educator who complements an outstanding team dedicated to the delivery of a high-quality music programme which has an impact on student outcomes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Be able to motivate, challenging pupils and encouraging progress
• To motivate and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching voice/singing
• Be a highly motivated, exemplary practitioner with a strong work ethic
• To possess a commitment to own personal professional development
• Personable and friendly
• Team player
