The Operations Manager for Chocolate Manufacturing, Retail, and Coffee Shop oversees the entire operational workflow across chocolate production facilities, retail outlets, and coffee shops. This role ensures smooth daily operations, maintains high-quality standards, optimizes efficiency, and enhances customer experience across all business units. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing production schedules, supply chain, inventory, staff development, and profitability while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operational Oversight:
• Manage and coordinate all aspects of chocolate manufacturing, retail, and coffee shop operations to ensure seamless execution of processes.
• Oversee production schedules, product quality control, and equipment maintenance in the chocolate manufacturing plant.
• Ensure that retail and coffee shop operations run efficiently, focusing on customer service, store presentation, and profitability.
• Staff Management & Development:
• Lead, mentor, and manage teams across manufacturing, retail, and coffee shops, including production staff, store managers, baristas, and sales personnel.
• Implement training programs to improve staff skills in areas such as product knowledge, customer service, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback to ensure the team meets company standards.
• Quality Control & Product Development:
• Work closely with the production and R&D teams to maintain high product quality and consistency across chocolate offerings.
• Collaborate on new product launches and ensure successful execution in manufacturing and retail channels.
• Implement quality assurance programs to meet food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP or relevant certifications.
• Inventory & Supply Chain Management:
• Oversee inventory management for both manufacturing and retail operations, ensuring that raw materials, packaging, and finished products are always adequately stocked.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and sourcing high-quality ingredients and materials at the best cost.
• Ensure the timely delivery of raw materials to production and retail outlets to avoid stock shortages or overages.
• Financial Performance & Cost Control:
• Develop and monitor budgets for manufacturing, retail, and coffee shop operations, ensuring alignment with overall financial goals.
• Track key financial metrics, including cost of goods sold (COGS), labor costs, and operational expenses, ensuring profitability across all business units.
• Implement cost-saving measures, optimize production processes, and reduce waste in both manufacturing and retail operations.
• Customer Experience & Sales Growth:
• Foster a customer-centric culture across all retail and coffee shop outlets, ensuring an exceptional in-store experience for all customers.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to drive sales promotions, product launches, and customer engagement initiatives to increase revenue.
• Monitor customer feedback and address any issues, ensuring a continuous improvement cycle in both service and product offerings.
• Compliance & Safety:
• Ensure that all manufacturing, retail, and coffee shop operations comply with local, national, and international food safety regulations and health and safety standards.
• Regularly audit manufacturing processes, retail stores, and coffee shops to ensure compliance with standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Operational Strategy & Innovation:
• Identify areas for operational improvement and introduce best practices to streamline production, retail, and coffee shop workflows.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term strategies for growth, efficiency improvements, and expansion into new markets.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and customer preferences to keep the business competitive.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A culinary or hospitality management background is an advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably in food production, retail, or hospitality.
• Expertise: Strong understanding of chocolate production processes, retail operations, and coffee shop management.
• Skills:
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and cost management.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
