Job Description

The Nursing Supervisor functions as an expert clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, facilitator and advisor focusing on nursing development within CSEC. Plans, directs, controls, co-ordinates and evaluates all activities related to Nursing Services in the Outpatient Nursing Department. He / She is also responsible for the supervision of clinical and administrative aspects of providing the highest standard of nursing care with effective personnel performance and management in the facility.

• Develops, monitors and evaluates, in conjunction with the Medical Director and the team, the established objectives set for the CSEC.
• Develops, evaluates and approves nurse staffing patterns for each clinic in CSEC.
• Provides information to support changes in staffing patterns to the Management team.
• Ensures that the necessary administrative and clinical policies and procedures are developed and adhered to in CSEC.
• Ensures that the crash carts at CSEC is up to date.
• Identifies unsafe practice and responds appropriately to ensure a safe outcome and do frequent safety rounds and risk surveys to ensure safe environment.
• Develops and evaluates nurses and other personnel for whom directly responsible to include the following: Orientation and responsibilities in CSEC, Nursing, Probationary Assessments for new hires, Performance Evaluations yearly, Staff Development Folders, Mandatory Nursing Competency record and Nursing Core and Unit Competencies.
• Processes sick leave, annual leave and public holiday requests in a timely manner for all CSEC Nursing staff and updates in the time and attendance / oracle system as required. All unpaid leave has to go through DON. Ensures adequate coverage to maintain services at all times
• Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner.
• Prepares data for the Infection Control committee and management, relevant areas and departments with monthly and comparative reports on nosocomial infection, wound surveys and staff biohazard accident/incidents.
• Participate in the maintenance of a practical system for reporting, evaluating and keeping records of infections among inpatients, discharge patients and personnel in order to provide an indication of the endemic levels of infection to enable the identification of epidemic or potentially epidemic situations.
• Conducts oversight of all areas of the clinic in relation to infection control and environmental services. Investigation and surveillance through laboratory results, ward notes, doctors' diagnosis and personal assessment.
• Assist and in conjunction with the Human Resources department, participate in the mandatory trainings and general orientation program.
• Participates as a member of the Clinic quality assurance, staff development and education programs to develop policies and procedures to meet standards and helps in the evaluation and further development of those programs.
• Provides assistance in the development of the clinic, patients and employee health program including maintaining appropriate immunization in accordance with CS policy and guidelines.
• In conjunction with the housekeeping supervisor assists with the oversight of the management program to ensure the Abu Dhabi (DOH/SEHA/OSHAD) standards are met and compliance with the handling and disposal of biohazard materials is adhered to


Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.


• Minimum 5 years of general hospital experience required
• An additional 3-4 years of nursing experience in Charge/Supervisory role
• Valid DOH License as Registered Nurse
• Valid Home Country Registration/License
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS/ACLS)
