PURPOSE OF THE JOB:We are looking for a talented Naval Designer to join our offshore project team. The Naval Designer will be responsible for developing detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for marine and offshore structures, ensuring they meet project requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. This role requires a strong background in naval architecture and marine engineering with a focus on offshore applications.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop detailed designs, layouts, and specifications for marine and offshore structures including platforms, floating systems, mooring arrangements, and marine equipment.
Utilize naval architecture software tools (e.g., NAPA, MOSES, Orca3D) to perform structural and hydrodynamic analyses, ensuring designs are optimized for stability, performance, and safety.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including naval architects, marine engineers, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate design solutions into overall project plans.
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and documentation to support design reviews, approvals, and client presentations.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations to propose innovative design solutions and enhancements for offshore projects.
Review and evaluate vendor proposals, technical specifications, and construction drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Participate actively in design reviews, technical meetings, and site visits offshore to oversee construction progress, resolve design issues, and ensure quality assurance.
Support procurement activities by providing technical expertise in bid evaluations, supplier selection, and contract negotiations for marine and offshore equipment and services.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments related to naval architecture and marine engineering in offshore environments.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
5+ years of experience as a Naval Designer or Marine Designer specializing in offshore projects within the Oil & Gas industry, preferably in an EPC contracting environment.
Proficiency in naval architecture software tools such as NAPA, MOSES, Orca3D, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of marine and offshore engineering principles, including structural analysis, stability, hydrodynamics, and mooring systems.
Familiarity with international standards and codes applicable to offshore structures (e.g., ABS, DNV, API).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality design solutions.
Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
