Overview:

The Motorcycle Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of motorcycles and scooters. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, repairing mechanical and electrical faults, and ensuring that motorcycles are in optimal working condition. The Motorcycle Mechanic will work with various motorcycle models, using specialized tools and equipment, and provide high-quality service to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect and diagnose issues with motorcycles, including mechanical, electrical, and performance-related problems. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and ensure accurate problem-solving. Recommend repairs and replacements to customers, providing detailed explanations of the work required. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire replacements, brake inspections, and chain adjustments. Repair or replace worn-out parts, including engines, transmissions, suspension components, and electrical systems. Repair and replace faulty wiring, ignition systems, fuel systems, and exhaust components. Perform engine overhauls and rebuilds when necessary. Install aftermarket parts and accessories according to customer specifications, such as performance parts, custom exhausts, and handlebars. Modify and upgrade motorcycles to improve performance or aesthetics, ensuring that all modifications comply with safety and regulatory standards. Test motorcycles after repairs to ensure they are operating correctly and safely. Conduct performance tests and road tests to verify that all repairs have been completed to the highest standard. Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with company safety standards and quality controls. Interact with customers to provide updates on the status of their motorcycle repairs and maintenance. Explain repair work and associated costs to customers in a clear and transparent manner. Offer advice to customers on proper maintenance practices and how to prolong the life of their motorcycle. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools, parts, and equipment are properly stored. Follow all health and safety protocols, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working on motorcycles. Dispose of waste materials such as oils and parts in an environmentally responsible manner. Monitor inventory levels of motorcycle parts and supplies, placing orders for replacement parts when necessary. Keep records of parts used and assist in maintaining accurate inventory documentation.

Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent (required). Certification or formal training in motorcycle mechanics or a related field (preferred). Additional certifications in specific motorcycle brands or systems are a plus. Proven experience as a motorcycle mechanic or in a similar role in the automotive or motorcycle industry. Experience with both two-stroke and four-stroke engine types, as well as modern and classic motorcycle models. Strong knowledge of motorcycle systems, including engine components, fuel systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and transmission. Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools effectively. Knowledge of modern motorcycle technology, such as fuel injection systems, ABS, and other electronic systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality repairs and services. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and fix complex mechanical issues. Good customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physical dexterity and stamina to handle heavy lifting, working with tools, and performing tasks in various conditions.
