Job Overview:
The MEP Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the smooth and effective implementation of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems on-site during the construction process. This role ensures that all MEP activities are executed in compliance with design specifications, local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards. The coordinator works closely with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the MEP systems are installed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:1. Site Supervision and Coordination:
• Supervise MEP Installations: Ensure that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are installed in accordance with the project design, specifications, and approved drawings.
• Monitor Work Progress: Oversee daily MEP work activities on-site, ensuring that tasks are completed according to the project schedule and within budget.
• Ensure Compliance: Ensure that the installation of MEP systems complies with all relevant local codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Liaise with Contractors: Coordinate with MEP subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely and correct installation of systems, equipment, and materials.
2. Technical Support and Quality Control:
• Provide Technical Guidance: Provide technical support to the installation team, clarifying design issues, and resolving discrepancies between design drawings and field conditions.
• Quality Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to ensure the quality of installation work meets the required standards and specifications.
• Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any issues that arise during installation, such as delays, design conflicts, or material shortages.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
• Track Progress: Prepare and submit daily or weekly progress reports to the MEP Project Manager or Site Manager, outlining work completed, challenges faced, and next steps.
• Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of all site activities, materials, deliveries, and any changes to the original design or scope of work.
• Submittals Management: Assist in managing submittals for approval, such as technical documents, material approvals, and equipment data.
4. Resource Management:
• Monitor Material Deliveries: Ensure timely delivery of MEP materials to the site and confirm that all items are correctly stored and tracked.
• Labor Coordination: Coordinate the availability of labor and ensure that workers are properly trained and follow safety protocols.
• Scheduling: Work with the site management team to ensure that MEP activities are integrated into the overall project schedule and are progressing according to plan.
5. Safety and Compliance:
• Safety Oversight: Ensure that all MEP work is carried out safely and in compliance with the project's safety plan and regulations.
• Ensure PPE Usage: Ensure that the workers are using the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines on-site.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
• Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact between the MEP team and other construction teams (architectural, structural, etc.), ensuring effective communication.
• Project Team Meetings: Participate in regular site meetings with project managers, engineers, and other contractors to review the progress, raise issues, and ensure alignment across teams.
Qualifications:Educational Background:
• Degree: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Certifications: Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) or Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
Experience:
• Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the coordination and management of MEP installations on construction sites.
• Experience in Large Projects: Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or residential construction projects is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building management systems (BMS).
• Project Management: Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and familiarity with construction management processes.
• Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality control processes and ability to conduct inspections to ensure the quality of MEP work.
