Job Summary

:

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems in construction and infrastructure projects. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, codes, and quality standards. The MEP Engineer works closely with other engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

:

Design & Planning

: Prepare and review detailed MEP design drawings, schematics, and layouts. Design MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection) based on project requirements and standards. Conduct energy modeling and load calculations for mechanical and electrical systems. Coordinate MEP designs with other disciplines (architectural, structural, etc.) to ensure compatibility. Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Project Coordination

: Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to finalize designs and plans. Provide technical support during the construction phase for MEP-related issues. Manage the procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and systems in line with project requirements. Monitor and supervise MEP installations on-site to ensure proper implementation. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess progress and compliance with specifications.

Testing & Commissioning

: Develop testing and commissioning plans for all MEP systems. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP systems, ensuring their operational readiness. Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning phase.

Project Documentation & Reporting

: Maintain comprehensive records of all MEP-related documentation, including design drawings, change orders, test reports, and operation manuals. Provide regular project status reports to the Project Manager, highlighting milestones, potential risks, and any technical challenges. Ensure the completion of necessary certifications for MEP systems (e.g., fire safety, HVAC compliance).

Quality Control

: Ensure that all MEP installations adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety. Review and enforce quality control procedures during design, installation, and commissioning phases.

Client & Stakeholder Interaction

: Communicate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and subcontractors regarding project progress and technical issues. Address any client concerns or feedback related to MEP systems.

Qualifications & Skills

:

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or related field).

Experience

: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in MEP design and project execution in construction or engineering (Gulf Countries) Experience with MEP design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)

Technical Skills

: Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems. Proficiency in load calculations, energy efficiency, and sustainable design practices. Knowledge of local and international building codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).

Project Management

: Experience in coordinating large-scale projects and managing multiple teams. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Communication Skills

: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical information in an understandable way.

Personal Traits

: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Team player with the ability to work independently when required.

Working Conditions

:

Full-time position. Office and fieldwork with visits to construction sites. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including noisy and dusty conditions on construction sites.
