An MEP Electrical Design Engineer designs electrical systems for buildings, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and comply with local codes and standards. Their role is critical in the planning and implementation of electrical infrastructure in a variety of construction projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Electrical System Design : Creating designs for lighting, power distribution, emergency power systems, fire alarms, and security systems.
• Load Calculations : Determining electrical load requirements for various systems (e.g., lighting, HVAC, elevators) and ensuring proper power distribution.
• Coordination with Other Disciplines : Collaborating with mechanical, plumbing, and architectural teams to integrate electrical systems smoothly into the building design.
• Energy Efficiency : Designing energy-efficient electrical systems, such as LED lighting, sensors, and renewable energy integration, to meet sustainability goals.
• Testing & Commissioning : Overseeing installation and testing of electrical systems to ensure they meet design specifications and safety standards.
• Compliance & Safety : Ensuring the electrical design complies with safety codes (e.g., National Electrical Code, IEC) and includes protective systems like grounding and circuit breakers.
Skills & Qualifications:
