Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated

MEP Design Engineer

to join our team. As an MEP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and planning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for various construction projects. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure the effective, efficient, and compliant installation of MEP systems within buildings and other infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

:

Design and Engineering

: Design mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects. Perform calculations and simulations for HVAC systems, electrical loads, plumbing systems, and fire safety systems. Create detailed design drawings, layouts, and system schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, or other MEP design software.

System Integration

: Ensure the integration of MEP systems with other building systems (e.g., structural, architectural, etc.). Conduct clash detection and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve issues.

Project Planning and Management

: Assist in project scheduling, ensuring that all MEP designs are completed on time and within budget. Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and cost estimates for MEP systems.

Code Compliance & Standards

: Ensure that designs meet all relevant local, state, and international codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, etc. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and building code changes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

: Design systems with a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and reducing environmental impact. Recommend energy-efficient solutions and implement systems that comply with green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, etc.).

Collaboration

: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other project stakeholders to coordinate the MEP design process. Communicate with contractors and clients to clarify design specifications and resolve technical issues during construction.

Site Visits

: Conduct site inspections and surveys to ensure that MEP systems are being installed according to design specifications and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

:

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

: Minimum 4 years of experience in MEP design engineering, preferably in [commercial/residential/industrial] sectors. Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other MEP design tools.

Technical Skills

: Proficient in designing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Strong understanding of building codes, industry standards, and local regulations. Ability to perform load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and electrical distribution systems.

Soft Skills

: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Certifications

(optional but preferred): LEED accreditation or similar energy efficiency/sustainability certifications. Professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

:

Experience in designing MEP systems for large-scale projects (e.g., commercial buildings, hospitals, industrial facilities). Knowledge of energy modeling and simulation tools. Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D design.
