Job Description

A MEP Design Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineer) is responsible for designing and coordinating the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in buildings and infrastructure projects. Their primary role is to ensure these systems operate efficiently, safely, and comply with building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Systems: Develop HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical (lighting, power, emergency systems), and plumbing (water supply, drainage, sewage) systems for buildings.
• Collaboration: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure that MEP systems integrate seamlessly with the building design.
• Create Drawings: Produce technical drawings and plans using software like AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM (Building Information Modeling).
• Energy Efficiency: Design energy-efficient systems and implement sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
• Problem-Solving: Address design issues and ensure systems function effectively under various conditions.
• Project Management: Estimate costs, manage budgets, and track project schedules, ensuring MEP systems are installed correctly and on time.

Key Skills:

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Design Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.
• Codes and Regulations: Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex design issues.
• Communication: Strong skills in collaborating with various project stakeholders.
• Project Management: Experience in budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing MEP installations.

Educational Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) can be advantageous.
