Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable MEP Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for a variety of building projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations, sustainability standards, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design & Engineering:
• Prepare detailed MEP design plans and specifications for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies and system analyses to determine the most cost-effective, energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions.
• Develop HVAC, lighting, power, and plumbing systems according to project requirements and local building codes.
• Use CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) to create detailed design drawings and 3D models of MEP systems.
• Coordination & Collaboration:
• Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other design professionals to ensure the integration of MEP systems into the building design.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth execution of the design during construction.
• Attend project meetings and site visits to ensure that MEP systems are being implemented correctly and as per the design specifications.
• Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure all designs comply with local and national codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Apply sustainable design principles in line with LEED, BREEAM, or other green building certification systems.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of permit applications for MEP systems, ensuring all required approvals are obtained.
• Project Management Support:
• Assist in preparing cost estimates, material specifications, and procurement schedules for MEP systems.
• Contribute to project planning and time management by adhering to deadlines and ensuring that designs are completed on schedule.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning stages.
• Testing & Commissioning:
• Support the testing and commissioning of MEP systems to ensure they meet operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with MEP installations and systems during the construction and handover phases.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain up-to-date records of design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports, including technical documentation, to senior engineers and project managers.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum [X] years of experience in MEP design engineering, preferably in the building and construction industry.
• Experience with CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) is required.
• Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and sustainability practices (LEED, BREEAM, etc.) is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design and installation.
• Proficiency in energy modeling and building simulation software.
• Understanding of HVAC, fire protection, lighting, power distribution, and plumbing systems.
