A professional designation responsible for planning and design in the field of Mechanical, Electrical, and plumbing (MEP) practice, including developing policies, standards, inspection procedures, and evaluation tools for MEP concerns along with preparing, reviewing drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for the mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing. Responsibilities:
- Managing multiple MEP projects.
- Ensuring there are minimal problems from the design to the delivery stage.
- Using project management software, AutoCAD and word processing programs to create MEP plans.
- Preparing cost estimates for electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems.
- Overseeing the work of the project management team and ensuring adherence to the project schedule.
- Coordinating on-site work with architects, structural engineers and electrical engineers.
- Providing MEP system installation, maintenance and technical advice to service providers, supervisors and inspectors.
- Inspecting, analysing and finding solutions for engineering issues related to the MEP features.
- Reviewing and evaluating the work of contractors, consultants and other construction industry professionals
- Reviewing contractor drawings and installation method statements to ensure they comply with the MEP design plan.
- Making technical clarifications to resolve coordination issues and design modifications to suit specific on-site construction requirements.
- Monitoring and maintaining on-site health and safety policies and explaining the necessity of complying with these to the crew.
- Undertaking off-site inspections of MEP equipment and materials to ensure compliance with regulations and project suitability
- Mechanical or Electrical University degree in Engineering
- Working knowledge of plans, prints, specifications, and schematics associated with trade
- At least five years of construction experience with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
- Construction procedures and practices
- Computer literate
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
