Medical Coder - Hospital Setting

Location: Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Summary: We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our hospital's healthcare administration team. The Medical Coder will be responsible for reviewing medical documentation and assigning accurate codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing and reimbursement purposes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with UAE healthcare regulations and international coding standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance policies, coupled with the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medical records to accurately assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS).
• Ensure codes are applied correctly according to coding guidelines and UAE regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Abstract clinical information from medical records for coding purposes.
• Validate coding accuracy to support billing processes and reimbursement.
• Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and insurance policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to ethical coding standards.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, insurance companies, and auditors regarding coding issues.

Requirements:

• Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS-P) highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Proven experience in medical coding, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with UAE healthcare regulations and insurance practices is a plus.
• Proficiency in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
