  • Understand and manage District Cooling Systems (DCP), including plant and chilled water (CHW) networks.
  • Well-versed in various types of mechanical equipment installed in DCPs, including their selection criteria, key performance parameters, and maintenance aspects.
  • Analyze the impact of different chiller systems on plant efficiency in DCPs.
  • Prepare equipment scope specifications according to project requirements.
  • Provide technical clarifications to vendors regarding proposed equipment.
  • Prepare Technical Bid Evaluations, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of equipment proposed by various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Review and approve equipment material submittals.
  • Engage in significant interaction with specialist equipment manufacturers.
  • Attend meetings with equipment manufacturers and subcontractors to ensure project alignment.
  • Design HVAC systems, firefighting, and plumbing systems for DCPs.
  • Issue Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings for DCPs and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Familiar with process requirements and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for DCPs.
  • Review and approve piping layouts and possess preliminary knowledge of piping and valve materials.
  • Perform stress analysis of piping systems using Caesar-II, including CHW plant piping, cooling water piping systems, and CHW distribution networks (above ground & buried).
  • Provide pipe support detailing and review support structural details from consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Optimize piping systems based on stress analysis, balancing flexibility and cost efficiency.
  • Well-versed in ASME B31.1 and B31.3 codes.
  • Review piping shop drawings for the plant, Energy Transfer Station (ETS), and chilled water distribution network.
  • Attend technical coordination meetings with subcontractors, providing solutions to technical issues encountered during the construction phase.
  • Review and approve material submittals for pipes, flanges, pipe fittings, pipe supports, insulation, pressure vessels, water storage tanks, valves, and other equipment in a timely manner.
  • Conduct mechanical design calculations for water storage tanks according to AWWA and API-650 codes.
  • Review shop drawings of water storage tanks and their accessories, providing comments to achieve IFC package deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the piping drafting and design team to meet construction target dates.
What wexe2x80x99re looking for
Education:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
Experience:
  • 5-8 years of related experience in DCP equipment selection, material submittal review, and DCP layout design. Preference for candidates with GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) experience.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment used in DCPs and associated design codes (ASHRAE, ASME B31.1, B31.3).
  • Proficiency in piping stress analysis using Caesar-II and familiarity with water storage tank design according to AWWA and API-650.
  • Excellent communication, project reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
