: Mechanical Fitter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Oil and Gas / Power Plant Mechanical Fitter - Mid-Level to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used in oil and gas or power plant operations. As a mid-level fitter, you will work with a team to ensure that all mechanical systems operate efficiently and reliably, while adhering to safety and quality standards. You will be expected to perform complex mechanical tasks with minimal supervision, assist in troubleshooting, and provide mentorship to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Installation and Maintenance:

Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, and engines, used in oil and gas and power plant operations. Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance. Ensure that all mechanical systems are installed and configured according to project specifications and industry standards.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:

Troubleshoot mechanical faults and identify the root cause of issues, using diagnostic tools, manuals, and hands-on inspections. Perform repairs or replacements on malfunctioning mechanical systems or components, ensuring that repairs are completed efficiently and effectively. Work with the operations and engineering teams to implement corrective actions for system failures or operational inefficiencies.

Quality Control and Compliance:

Ensure all mechanical work is completed in compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Conduct inspections on mechanical systems and components to verify that they meet performance standards and specifications. Follow industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI) during installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts used. Prepare detailed reports on the condition of mechanical systems and the performance of equipment, and provide recommendations for improvements or upgrades. Document any safety or operational issues encountered, reporting them to management and suggesting corrective actions.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and operations staff to ensure that all mechanical tasks are completed on schedule and in alignment with project timelines. Mentor junior mechanical fitters, providing guidance on maintenance procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and safety practices. Assist in the training and development of new team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their roles safely and effectively.

Safety and Risk Management:

Ensure that all mechanical activities are performed in adherence to safety regulations and best practices. Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation processes to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to minimize risks to yourself and your team.

Continuous Improvement:

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, suggesting ways to improve mechanical processes, increase system reliability, and reduce downtime. Stay updated on the latest technological advancements, tools, and techniques used in mechanical fitting and maintenance in the oil and gas and power plant industries.

Contribute to the improvement of mechanical operations, using innovative methods to enhance system performance and reliability.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; a technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred. Additional certifications in mechanical fitting, welding, or safety are highly desirable.

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in mechanical fitting and maintenance, with a strong background in the oil and gas or power plant industries. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems such as pumps, turbines, compressors, engines, and related equipment. Proven track record of working with industrial mechanical systems and performing troubleshooting and repairs.

Skills:

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems independently. Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and instruments used to assess mechanical systems and components. Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete work to high standards of quality and precision. Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report findings to management. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.

Certifications (Preferred)

:

API, ASME, or other relevant certifications related to mechanical fitting in the oil and gas or power plant industries. Welding or pipefitting certifications are a plus. OSHA, First Aid, or other safety certifications.
