Materials Engineer Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is looking for a talented Materials Engineer to join our site team in Abu Dhabi


What You'll Be Doing:

• Review and approve (make recommendation for approval) of all submitted materials by the contractor.
• Supervise and participate in sampling, monitor/ witness testing, recordkeeping, and reporting in accordance with the applicable procedures and directives, including Materials Testing Manual, AASHTO Standard Methods of Sampling and Testing, Construction Supervision Manual, Project Plans and Specifications, Construction Supervision Directives.
• Analyze the test results in a timely manner and recommend action and report any failing or "borderline" test results immediately to the Resident Engineer.
• Follow up and verify implementation of corrective actions and document the remedial action taken to meet specifications.
• Coordinate with the Contractor on work priorities and schedules.
• Ensure inspection and checking of all delivered materials to site for conformance with the approved source or supplier.to the project requirements and approval.
• Maintain records of test results and all taken corrective actions.
• Monitor the frequency and number of tests required for every operation and ensure compliance of used materials with the project's specifications.
• Track and review the site testing and certificates of compliance.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• At least a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized University.
• Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience. demonstrable experience in Materials and Quality Control on major road, highway, bridges.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure projects and steel structures and steel bridges.

What desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Emphasis on Quality Assurance Specifications and Quality Control.
• Should be able to review and justify the material submissions analyze laboratory and technical reports, carry out acceptance sampling plans, testing and quality measures, ensuring the compliance with the project's Specifications.
• Must have a sound knowledge about contractual relationships.
• Must be computer literate and able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software.
• Must be fluent in English both written and spoken with an excellent capability in written technical skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
