Job Title: Master Pastry Chef - Gastronomy Artist

About the Role:
Gerbou Restaurant, in collaboration with the owners of the restaurant "Tashkeel" art and design studios, is seeking a Master Pastry Chef whose expertise lies in both the precision of Michelin-level flavor construction and the artistry of conceptual dessert design. This is a rare opportunity to fuse haute patisserie with contemporary art, curating a sensory experience that celebrates both visual and gustatory storytelling.

Every 6-8 weeks, with each new exhibition at the neighboring Tashkeel Gallery, the master pastry chef will design and develop the recipie for a one-of-a-kind plated dessert that interprets the artist's body of work. The creation will be more than a dish; it will be a narrative on a plate, inviting guests to taste the essence of the exhibition, drawing upon the artist's origin, materiality, and message.

Key Responsibilities:

Conceive and execute elevated plated desserts in direct response to rotating exhibitions at Tashkeel Gallery. Receive and study the full PDF exhibition catalog and curatorial materials, interpreting each show's conceptual framework, artistic techniques, and cultural context. Develop original recipes rooted in the regional flavors, spices, and culinary heritage of the artist's background, transforming visual language into culinary expression. Showcase mastery of texture, flavor balance, and precision techniques to reflect the emotional and material richness of the artworks. Plate desserts with refined visual artistry that aligns seamlessly with the tone and palette of the exhibition. Collaborate closely with the curatorial and pastry teams to synchronize storytelling between gallery and restaurant. Innovate continuously while maintaining impeccable quality standards reflective of Michelin-level culinary expectations.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a pastry chef in a fine dining or Michelin-starred environment, with a portfolio of conceptual and visually refined desserts. Expertise in flavor pairing, regional culinary research, and contemporary plating. Ability to translate visual and abstract ideas into edible experiences that resonate with both meaning and taste. Deep appreciation for visual aesthetics, storytelling, and immersive guest experiences. Strong time management skills and adaptability to work in rhythm with the exhibition cycle. A creative, culturally curious mindset with a deep respect for artistic practice.
Preferred Qualifications:

Background or strong interest in visual arts, design theory, or cultural heritage. Experience in culinary storytelling through art collaborations, residencies, or creative concept menus. Familiarity with food as a medium for emotional and cultural expression in high-concept environments.
This is not simply a culinary role -- it is a gastronomic dialogue between art and flavor.
You will be entrusted to create a singular dessert that embodies the soul of each exhibition, allowing guests at Gerbou to engage with contemporary art through the immersive lens of taste.
