Job Description

Project Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for PACS implementations or upgrades. Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with radiologists, IT teams, clinicians, administrators, and vendors to define project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational needs. Implementation Oversight: Manage the end-to-end deployment of PACS solutions, including hardware installation, software configuration, and integration with systems like EHR (Electronic Health Records) and RIS (Radiology Information Systems) and regional HIE platforms. Team Leadership: Lead multidisciplinary project teams, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and resolving conflicts to keep the project on track. Vendor Management: Act as the primary point of contact for PACS vendors, negotiating contracts, managing deliverables, and ensuring vendor support meets project milestones. Testing & Validation: Coordinate system testing, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure the PACS meets performance, security, and usability standards. Training & Change Management: Develop and oversee training programs for end-users and support staff, while managing change processes to facilitate smooth adoption of the new system. Budget Management: Monitor project expenditures, ensuring costs stay within approved budgets and justifying variances as needed. Compliance & Standards: Ensure all project activities comply with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and industry standards (e.g., DICOM, HL7). Post-Implementation Support: Facilitate the transition to operational teams, document lessons learned, and provide initial post-launch support to address issues. System Administration: Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the PACS infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and network integrations. Image Management: Ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical images (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, CT scans) while maintaining image quality and data security. Technical Support: Provide advanced technical support to radiologists, clinicians, and IT staff, resolving system issues and minimizing downtime. Integration: Collaborate with IT teams to integrate PACS with other systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and imaging modalities. Upgrades & Maintenance: Plan and implement software updates, patches, and system upgrades to enhance performance and security. Training: Develop and deliver training programs for end-users, including radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff, to ensure effective use of the PACS. Compliance: Ensure the PACS adheres to healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, as well as organizational policies regarding data privacy and security. Vendor Coordination: Liaise with PACS vendors for support, troubleshooting, and procurement of hardware/software solutions. Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, analyze usage metrics, and recommend improvements to optimize workflow efficiency. Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup protocols and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical imaging data.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (master's degree preferred). Large scale PACS Implementation experience is a MUST. 8+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with at least 5+ years focused on PACS administration or imaging informatics. Preferred certifications include Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) or vendor-specific PACS training Proficiency in PACS software, DICOM standards, HL7 interfaces, VNA and Medical imaging technologies * Understanding of radiology workflows, medical imaging technologies, and healthcare compliance standards.
