Job Description

Job SummaryIs to co-ordinate the delivery of education projects in a multi stakeholder environment. This will include managing and integrating developers, consultants, contractors and end users to ensure that school projects reflect best practice and innovation in MEP and construction to ensure that the schools continue to be at the forefront of education delivery.Deliver sustainable solutions to all aspects of MEP design and ensuring that our current and new facilities are driven by sustainable and responsible strategies.Manage all phases of project delivery from inception through to completion. Ensuring that projects are delivered to time and budget and represent the best possible value for money.Key Accountabilities
  • Provide Project leadership during the design stage in a collaborative, partnership-based manner.
  • Provide full design support to the Project Managers during the construction phase
  • Manage the liaison and relationships of all key stakeholders (Client, Consultants, authorities, Construction Site Team, Subcontractor Designers)
  • Ensure management of the MEP design process in accordance with company policy, procedures and Design Plan.
  • Select & manage Consultants including scope, inputs and deliverables.
  • Ensure that the cost objectives are achieved (or bettered) with timely reporting and forecasting.
  • Manage the MEP design including all inputs, coordination and deliverables to achieve the time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Arrange full construction (MEP Installation & planning) support during the design phase to maximize constructability.
  • Achieve progressive sign-off by the Client at appropriate milestone stages.
  • Achieve progressive approval from relevant authorities at appropriate stages including close liaison with the appropriate consultant.
  • Ensure the MEP design addresses workplace health & safety, maintenance, sustainability and environmental and life costing efficiencies.
  • Document and monitor all project risks and instigate management strategies to control or eliminate.
  • Monitor & control all changes to the contract design brief.
  • Monitor a MEP design quality plan, linking Designers quality plans with a regular review and audit function.
  • Ensure a traceable record is maintained of all key design decisions including justification and approvals.
  • Identify and promptly initiate corrective actions necessary to ensure that the Project objectives will be met.
  • Support the Project Manager to ensure that the design intent and design performance criteria are maintained through the design development and construction process.
  • Promptly report any significant Client concerns and legislative/ regulatory breaches to Management.
  • Liaise with the Project / programme managers regarding sustainability targets to ensure continuous improvement of project delivery
  • Review and evaluate design (drawings) and construction submittals
  • Coordinate and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) highlighting any issues and determine methods to resolve these issues to the management team
  • Develop Initiate and lead Sustainability strategy for GEMS projects in line with Authority Regulations
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering, design management with knowledge of project management and programme management processes, preferably in a Design & Build environment
  • Minimum 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in MEP & Sustainability, either on consultancy side or contracting side.
  • Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts an advantage
