Maintains accurate and complete records of all patients on paper and in electronic format. ls responsible for the overall management of the Medical Records Department including prior and current patients.
Responsibilities:Management:
Supervise, guide, motivate and evaluate MR Staff - all while implementing department policies.
Conduct job interviews, hire staff and train new personnel.
Recommends and implements operating policies and procedure.
Assists and participates in departmental studies and quality projects.
Determines need for equipment and supplies.
Training and Development:
Evaluates performance, implements action on areas needing improvement or training Trains and supervises medical records personnel in the daily operations.
Orients new staff of medical records unit.
Medical Information Management:
Collects, assembles, checks and files patient s\' charts as required. Ensures that I record are in proper order, completed, signed, and indexed.
Manages and ensures the viability of the electronic records system.
Monitors the accuracy of patient records and documentation of patient visits.
Answers inquiries (requests, subpoenas, court orders) regarding information while ensuring protection of Patient Rights.
Establishes and maintains procedure to ensure records are safely maintained within the hospital.
Ensures incomplete records are addressed with appropriate department or service provider for correction or completion.
Prepares and maintains statistical reports and various registries, including treatments, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds.
Cooperates with interdepartmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility, to assure that services are properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information
Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in science of any related health care course.
Comprehensive knowledge in medical ethics, medical law, statistics, medical record privacy procedures, medical coding systems, medical record administration.
Five years of relevant progressive experience in the health care sector.
Maintain current, appropriate certifications and competencies.
Advanced skills in various computer software programs
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of regulations regarding requirements for maintaining medical records.
