Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing financial planning, budgeting, reconciliation, and reporting. The incumbent will prepare financial statements and generate reports giving insights on operational activity to facilitate financial decision making.
Job Responsibilities
Leads the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Prepares the executive summary for finance leadership review. Monitors and analyses budget variances throughout the year, utilizing data compiled to update forecasts, administer, and report on the approved budget. Oversees the monthly reconciliation against the budget and directs the internal team. Guides the enhancement of various templates or reports used for such reconciliations. Guides the development and enhancement of various templates or reports used for reporting and reconciliations. Monitors the revenue cycle activities to identify opportunities for improvement. Liaises with internal stakeholders to engage in the budgeting process and provides detailed, meaningful insights for budget management. Manages all accounting-related transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies, financial regulations and accounting standards (US GAAP). Oversees closing of accounting entries on a monthly and annual basis ensuring completion of documentation for academic, research and grants accounts. Leads the timely preparation and accurate presentation of essential financial reports, including financial statements, quarterly reports, grants management reports, research packages. Leads all intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manages the financial year-end audit process, working closely with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and information. Manages the financial aspects of grants management, including grant budgeting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. Ensures accurate records are maintained for all fixed assets, including acquisitions, tagging, disposals, depreciation. Leads automation efforts relevant to the work area to streamline processes and ensure compliance. Stays current accounting standards, including US GAAP and best industry practices. Maintains clear and effective communication with all stakeholders regarding financial matters, providing updates and responding to inquiries promptly. Manages monthly KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reports and financial statistics. Manages the updates and maintenance of finance policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with professional qualifications such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA. 9 - 10 years of relevant experience including supervisory experience preferably in higher education, healthcare or research setup.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge and experience in US general accounting principles (GAAP). Experience in SAP or Oracle and similar ERP implementations preferred. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills with a meticulous approach to reporting. Demonstrated experience in working in a multi-cultural background. Thorough attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced result-oriented environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in English and Arabic (preferable). Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite of products with strong focus on MS Excel.
