Job Description

OverviewReporting to the Director, Pharmacy, the Manager, Pharmacy role is responsible for managing the operational activities of the Pharmacy function and the associated satellite pharmacies to provide world class pharmaceutical services for inpatients and/or outpatients in line with MH and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. Manager,Pharmacy role is also responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients by preventing, detecting and resolving medication and drug therapy related issues as well as assessing drug treatments to ensure their safe and effective delivery in line with MH and DOH/DHA policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.ResponsibilitiesBusiness Strategy
  • Develops and manages the implementation of the division's strategic and operational goals and continuously monitors progress towards their achievement.
  • Prepares the division's yearly budget and controls costs to ensure adherence to the allocated budget.
Organizational Culture & Compliance
  • Ensures people, financial and technological resources within the division are utilized effectively.
  • Develops, reviews and ensures the implementation of the division's policies and procedures in line with best practices to fulfil the overall organizational requirements.
  • Ensures provision of applicable standards and requirements of Joint Commission International (JCI), Legislation, Quality Standards, DOH/DHA, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Drives meetings and ensures professionalism and confidentiality are maintained at all times as per the organization's standard code of conduct.
  • Ensures social accountability in providing the highest calibre of care and services to the wide range of patient demographic.
  • Drives the setting of measurable standards of care and ensures the maintenance of these standards in adherence with DOH/DHA standards
and regulatory requirements.Pharmacy (Inpatient,Outpatient, & Clinical services)
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of caregivers in the inpatient pharmacies including but not limited to the dispense and control of inpatients medications and ensures efficient operations of the associated satellite pharmacies.
  • Performs clinical pharmaceutical activities including but not limited to providing drug information to patients and medical caregivers as and when required.
  • Supervises and assists caregivers in the assigned areas to solve operational and professional challenges.
  • Ensures the maintenance of proper inventory of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Ensures implementation of the Advanced Practice initiative by facilitating the transition towards patient-centered pharmacy practice.
  • Liaises with medical and nursing caregivers to coordinate pharmaceutical activities and to assist in resolving inter-functional issues pertaining to pharmaceutical medications.
  • Develops financial reports in coordination with the Finance teams to be submitted to management.
  • Ensures development and maintenance of inpatient pharmaceutical related documents and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Quality Assurance and Service Improvement
  • Participates in designing and implementing clinical programs, initiatives and services to ensure patient safety and quality healthcare delivery and participates in educational and research activities.
  • Participates in ensuring appropriate Quality Management Systems and Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems are in place and recommends improvements to enhance quality within the department.
  • Develops reports on quality assurance, clinical patient requests and incidents as well as key performance measurements whenever requested.
People Management
  • Supports in setting the caregivers individual objectives, manages their performance and motivates them to achieve their individual goals, while ensure timely completion of their performance evaluation cycle.
  • Provides continuous constructive feedback and coaching to caregivers and take prompt action where necessary to ensure progressive
development.
  • Assigns responsibilities effectively in adherence with the organizational DoA and monitors the workflow of the function while maintaining high caregiver engagement and a motivated work environment.
  • Drives opportunities for caregivers to suggest, participate and contribute to improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Provides input in areas of manpower planning including recruitment,training, capability enhancement and drives a high level of caregiver engagement.
  • Ensures maintaining the required Continuous Medical Education (CME) hours in compliance with DOH/DHA regulations
Communication
  • Communicates effectively with team members and maintains good interfunctional liaison to ensure smooth implementation of operational activities.
  • Communicates clearly and timely about applicable regulatory requirements within the division.
  • Drives a culturally sensitive approach for the communication with patients to ensure a seamless patient experience.
QualificationsEducation
  • BSc in Pharmacy and PharmD
  • Completion of specialty qualification as per the recognized specialty certificate (DOH/DHA guidelines)
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years experience post qualification in related field in hospital setting.
