The Livestock Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily financial and physical performance and operations of the farm through sustained leadership, management, technical and business skills. Responsible for implementing the short- and long-term business plans, for driving the business and working with the farm team to ensure the farm's success and optimizing the business performance and profitability in line with business strategy, company policy and direction. Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Work with the CEO to develop the business plan and annual budget. \xc2\xb7 Operate and manage the ET/IVF breeding programs of the Farm. \xc2\xb7 Oversee Dairy and Livestock production (meat and milk) as per the production plan. \xc2\xb7 Provide technical advice on issues raised pertaining to livestock, dairy etc. \xc2\xb7 Oversee and monitor seasonal expenditure in line with the budgeted cash flow. \xc2\xb7 Source and maintain an international network of Suppliers. \xc2\xb7 Liaise with key local & international professionals e.g. vet, fertilizer rep, stock agents and contractors to ensure smooth operation of the farm. \xc2\xb7 Oversee the development, review and management of repairs and maintenance for the farm, its machinery and infrastructure. \xc2\xb7 Ensure all relevant company policies are understood and adhered to Feed production management. \xc2\xb7 Oversee feed budgeting and negotiate feed contracts to achieve production targets. \xc2\xb7 Oversee the development and implementation of an annual nutrient management plan. \xc2\xb7 Ensure Dairy remains in compliance with all Organic, and State and Federal regulations. \xc2\xb7 Oversee animal health program: maintain the herd with the computerized record keeping for herd health and productivity. \xc2\xb7 Maintain and monitor the calf raising systems. \xc2\xb7 Develop and maintain an organic pasture plan for all the animals. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the farm maintains quality standards. \xc2\xb7 Active participation in all activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety. \xc2\xb7 Identification and reporting of hazard/danger, accidents, near misses, and property damage at the workplace Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures adhered to. \xc2\xb7 Ensure the appropriate training and record keeping is undertaken. \xc2\xb7 Ensure proper use of appropriate safety gear / equipment at all times. \xc2\xb7 Oversee the farm within consent conditions. \xc2\xb7 Work within best practice environmental guidelines. \xc2\xb7 Maintain the esthetics and fencing on the farm Oversee and ensure any development work is undertaken with appropriate consents. \xc2\xb7 Recruit and select staffing for all farm positions. \xc2\xb7 Ensure new staff are inducted and aware of company policies and are given role clarity. \xc2\xb7 Provide training/coaching to direct reports to enable them to competently carry out tasks required of them Conduct annual staff performance reviews on direct reports. \xc2\xb7 Maintain employment records and personal files. Education: Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field. Experience: Proven experience in livestock management, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role. Skills: \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of animal husbandry, breeding, and nutrition \xc2\xb7 Strong organizational and leadership skills. \xc2\xb7 Familiarity with relevant farm equipment and technologies. \xc2\xb7 Understanding of business and financial management principles.
