REQUIREMENTS:
Experienced Line managers in armoured vehicle/Automotive manufacturing is preferred.
Must be in a supervisory position and should be knowledgeable in welding and fabrication.
Position Summary: The Line Manager in the Automotive Manufacturing Division is responsible for overseeing and managing daily operations on the production line. This includes supervising staff, ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The Line Manager will be a key player in optimizing production processes and ensuring smooth coordination across various departments to meet production deadlines and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the production line to meet targets, timelines, and quality standards.
Ensure optimal staffing levels for all shifts and monitor workforce performance to meet production demands.
Maintain detailed records of production output, downtime, and incidents.
Team Leadership:
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of production workers to maintain high levels of performance.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support to employees.
Ensure clear communication within the team to maintain smooth workflow.
Quality Control:
Monitor production quality, ensuring all products meet the required specifications and standards.
Identify, report, and address quality control issues and work with quality assurance teams to implement corrective actions.
Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Lead by example in adhering to all company safety guidelines and industry regulations.
Investigate and report any safety incidents, accidents, or near-misses and implement preventive measures.
Process Optimization:
Identify areas for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Work with engineering, maintenance, and other teams to implement process changes and troubleshooting.
Promote lean manufacturing practices to achieve operational excellence.
Production Scheduling and Reporting:
Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet company objectives.
Analyze production data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
Report on production performance, including downtime, efficiency, quality metrics, and team performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments, such as maintenance, logistics, quality control, and supply chain, to ensure seamless production processes.
Coordinate with the inventory team to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
Employee Development:
Conduct training for new hires and existing staff to improve their skills and ensure adherence to operational procedures.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that production equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
Liaise with the maintenance team to schedule routine maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns promptly.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. (Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.)
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Skills:
Strong leadership and people management skills.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality control.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement techniques.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other production management software.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Desired Attributes:
Hands-on experience in the automotive manufacturing industry.
Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
