Ensure adherence to the companys directives, corporate standards, procedures, framework, laws, regulations, and relevant codes.
Assist Senior Legal Counsel in maintaining legal conformity and minimizing exposure risks.
Legal Guidance:
Offer legal advice to senior management and stakeholders on various legal matters, including regulatory compliance, contract law, environmental law, and corporate governance.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents relevant to the companys projects, particularly EPC contracts.
Lead or participate in negotiations with clients and subcontractors to finalize contract terms, including scope of work, pricing, payment terms, deliverables, warranties, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and ensure compliance with local, regional, and international laws, regulations, and standards governing the industry.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, rights, permitting requirements, and safety standards.
Risk Management:
Identify legal risks and liabilities associated with the companys projects and operations.
Develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect the organization's interests.
Advise on risk management practices and insurance coverage.
Legal Due Diligence:
Conduct legal due diligence for potential acquisitions, investments, or joint ventures.
Assess legal risks, liabilities, and compliance issues, providing recommendations to senior management.
Dispute Resolution:
Manage legal disputes and litigation matters arising from the companys projects, contractual disputes, regulatory enforcement actions, or other legal issues.
Represent the organization in negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings as necessary.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external legal counsel, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
Address legal and regulatory issues, advocate for the organization's interests, and build positive relationships.
Qualifications:
Around 5 years of experience as a Legal Counsel in a foreign private company or international organization.
Background in the Utility (water, wastewater, desalination, renewable energy, etc.) or Construction industry.
Proficiency in drafting and reviewing contracts within the EPC field (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction).
Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts with a minimum value of $10 million USD and above.
Bachelor's degree in Law; a Masters in Law is a plus.
