The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for ensuring the project's environmental and sustainability goals are met, including:
a. Environmental Plans and Permits: Oversee the creation of the Contractor's Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and ensure compliance with local regulations by submitting them for approval.
b. Sustainability Credits: Monitor and manage sustainability credits (both mandatory and elective) relevant to the project, following the project specifications.
c. Advice and Training: Provide support, advice, and training to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, sustainability targets, and prevent incidents on-site.
d. Site Mobilization: Manage the site mobilization process, including checklists and inspections, before construction begins.
e. Review of Materials and Methods: Ensure all material submittals and method statements meet the sustainability requirements and best environmental practices.
f. Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure sustainable practices are being followed and non-compliances are addressed.
g. Sustainability Monitoring: Track site activities to ensure compliance with sustainability goals, especially around waste management and materials.
h. Photographic Documentation: Maintain a photographic log to show compliance with sustainability targets.
i. Incident Management: Record and investigate any incidents, create corrective action plans, and follow through to resolve issues.
j. Monthly Reports: Prepare monthly environmental reports for the contractor.
k. Site Demobilization: Manage the process of demobilizing the site, including checklists, method statement reviews, and inspections before the contractor leaves.
l. Meetings Participation: Participate in sustainability-related meetings and audits throughout the project.
m. Record Keeping: Maintain all environmental and sustainability records, including incident logs and training records.
n. Coordination with Consultant: Work with the Employer's Sustainability Consultant to ensure compliance with sustainability goals and provide updates on progress.
o. Coordination with Auditor: Assist with any independent environmental audits and respond to non-compliances promptly.
Experience: The Sustainability Manager should have at least 10 years of experience working on large construction projects. If the project is LEED certified, the manager will also act as the LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), ensuring that all LEED requirements are met during construction.
