PUPROSE OF THE ROLE:The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for leading the process engineering activities for offshore oil and gas projects during the engineering phase. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of process systems to ensure they meet project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Lead Process Engineer works closely with multidisciplinary teams, manages engineering deliverables, and provides technical leadership to achieve optimal project outcomes.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and manage process engineering activities for offshore oil and gas projects.
Develop project execution plans, schedules, and budgets for process engineering scope.
Ensure all process engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Develop and review process design documents, including PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and process simulations.
Perform process simulations and calculations to design efficient and safe process systems.
Specify and select process equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to the process engineering team.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure integrated project delivery.
Conduct technical reviews and audits to ensure design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
Prepare technical specifications and evaluate bids for process equipment and services.
Manage relationships with vendors and contractors, ensuring timely delivery and quality of equipment and services.
Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for process equipment.
Ensure all process designs comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses (e.g., HAZOP, HAZID) related to process systems.
Implement and oversee process safety management (PSM) systems and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Support commissioning and startup activities, ensuring process systems are correctly installed and operational.
Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during commissioning and initial operation phases.
Provide training and support to operations and maintenance personnel.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, datasheets, and as-built drawings.
Prepare regular progress reports and updates for project stakeholders.
Ensure documentation is archived and maintained according to company procedures.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead role within offshore oil and gas projects.
In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., API, ASME, IEC).
Proficiency in process design software and tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus).
Strong project management skills, with experience in managing budgets, schedules, and resources.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to travel to offshore sites and project locations as required.
