Implement the day-to-day operations assigned for the piping design section to ensure compliance with the established targets, standards, and procedures.
Plan and maintain manpower and other resources required for smooth operation of the piping design section.
Complete the projects within the allocated budget and schedule with the required quality.
Identification and planning of training requirements for assigned discipline employees.
Ensuring design work undertaken is in accordance with departmental work instructions, procedures, and standards.
Ensuring that all activities are in line with OHS & E requirements.
Liaison with Engineer in order to assure that all technical/engineering requirements are met.
Liaison with classification societies.
Maintaining the discipline of the department and yard.
Conduct training as required.
Prepare and review design drawings and documents.
Executing duties of an engineer according to qualification if required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the department head.
Monitor and appraise subordinates based on performance management and assessment systems.
Plan, organize, and supervise all activities assigned to piping section subordinates in order to ensure that all assigned tasks are carried out in accordance with department work instructions, process manuals, and project-specific requirements in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering.
The candidate should have intimate familiarity with 3D modelling software.
15-20 years of relevant experience in shipyards, offshore substations, and the oil Gas industry in the design office.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a lead piping designer.
Experience with performing FEED design, FEED Verification & Detail Engineering for Piping Discipline., experience in design codes (like ASME, DIN, NORSOK), well versed with various international material standards, as well as a good understanding of ABS, DNV, API, ASME, and other related industry regulations and standards.
Fully trained and knowledgeable with relevant safety and occupational health & safety standards.
