Overview:
The Lead Cost Control is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project cost control to ensure projects are completed within the approved budget. This role involves developing and implementing cost control procedures, monitoring project costs, analyzing variances, and providing cost forecasting. The Lead Cost Control will work closely with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to support decision-making processes and manage financial risks.
Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain cost control systems and procedures to ensure project costs are effectively managed and controlled.
Monitor project expenditures, commitments, and actual costs against the approved budget to identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
Develop and maintain cost forecasts, providing accurate and timely cost reporting to project management and stakeholders.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets, including the development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and cost control plans.
Collaborate with project teams to review and validate cost estimates, track changes, and ensure that all cost impacts are accurately captured.
Lead cost control reviews, including monthly cost reviews, variance analysis, and progress reporting.
Analyze cost trends and provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency and mitigate financial risks.
Support the contract and procurement processes by reviewing cost-related aspects of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
Ensure alignment with company policies, procedures, and industry best practices in cost control. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:
Certification in Cost Control or Project Management (e.g., AACE CCP, PMI-PMP) is preferred.
Proficiency in cost control software (e.g., Primavera, SAP, or other ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills. Years of Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in cost control, with at least 5 years in a lead role, preferably within the oil and gas, construction, or EPC industries. Technical Knowledge:
Cost Control Systems: Strong knowledge of cost control methodologies, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, including experience with developing and managing cost control systems and tools.
Project Management: Understanding of project management principles, including cost estimation, scheduling, risk management, and change control processes.
