ob Summary:

The Lathe Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining lathe machines to shape metal or plastic components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with precision machining tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate lathe machines to produce precision parts according to blueprints, sketches, and instructions. Load and align materials, ensuring proper placement and secure clamping in the lathe machine. Program, adjust, and control the lathe to perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and threading operations. Monitor machine operations to detect any malfunctions and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality output. Measure and inspect completed parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure they meet exact specifications. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lathe machines and related tools. Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area. Keep accurate records of production runs, machine settings, and any deviations from standard procedures. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize processes and improve product quality.

Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining or CNC operations is a plus. Proven experience as a Lathe Operator, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong understanding of machine operations and metalworking principles. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills and the ability to make precise measurements and calculations.
